Giving Back: The Chapter Champion

Meet Our Non-Profit Partner for 2013-2014

Hospice of the Western Reserve

CSHRM is proud to have chosen Hospice of the Western Reserve to benefit from our charitable giving back events throughout the 2013-2014 chapter year, including the Holiday Silent Auction, NOHRC and the Golf Outing. This non-profit, community-based agency provides palliative, end-of-life care, caregiver support throughout Northern Ohio. Hospice of the Western Reserve’s  Elisabeth Severance Prentiss Bereavement Center offers a wide range of bereavement support services to families as well as to the community at large, including support groups, school and workplace programs, children’s camps, healing arts workshops and community crisis response. Since 1978, Hospice of the Western Reserve has been providing care to patients and families wherever they live—at home, in the hospital, in assisted living and nursing facilities or at one of its two in-patient residential care facilities: David Simpson Hospice House on Cleveland’s east side and Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake. The non-profit agency’s range of care incorporates music, art and massage therapy, volunteer support services, and a customized plan of care tailored to each patient’s needs. Specialized programs meet the needs of pediatric palliative care patients, veterans, patients with HIV/AIDS, COPD, dementia, and other diseases.

About Our Committee

The Chapter Champion Committee has volunteers from diverse organizations dedicated to delivering creative and interactive ways for CSHRM to give back to the northeast Ohio community at large.  The committee focuses their attention on charitable organizations, and builds awareness for their causes with fun events throughout the calendar year. Our goal is to support our community through outreach and charitable efforts.

We are responsible for:

  • Building relationships and taking an active role with partner nonprofits
  • Organizing and planning the Annual Charitable Silent Auction & Raffle (November) and Annual Charitable Golf Outing & Silent Auction (July)
  • Securing donations and services for the event
  • Communication and marketing efforts for the giving back events with the CSHRM Membership & partner non-profit.
  • Partnering with other CSHRM committees (i.e., Programs, Social, NOHRC, etc)
  • Supporting other committee members with follow through and honoring commitments
  • Enjoying ourself and being passionate about helping others!

Through our efforts we have raised over $85,000.00 over the past 5 years for nonprofit organizations.

How Can I Help?
Getting involved is easy! By attending the Chapter Champion events including the Annual Charitable Silent Auction & Raffle and the Annual Charitable Golf Outing & Silent Auction, you will meet lots of people and volunteer your time for a good cause. You can also network with members of the represented charity organizations and learn ways to volunteer with them on your own! We need your help developing relationships in the community, connecting with area organizations for donations and coordinating and volunteering at events.

Contact Jody Wheaton ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) if you are interested in getting involved.
